The future:

The strategy of the Gödöllő Town Library was set up in 1998, during this process we drew up our mission declaration, which we have called our own to this day:

“The task of the Gödöllő Town Library and Information Centre is to ensure everyone has free access to information in all the fields of culture, science and economy. It maintains and cultivates the values linked to classical book, music and film culture. It ensures that other libraries and information service providers have access to its database and the Internet, and performs a public information activity. It also presents the unique profile of Gödöllő through its services, varied literature and cultural events, as well as through the presentation of the local collection about this small town with its rich cultural and historical traditions.”

Our future image includes a library that is able to satisfy the library demands of a population of some 40 thousand, that receives 100–120 thousand visitors every year, and that provides readers with a well organised and open collection and nearly 180 thousand documents. The library provides reader-friendly services both in the areas of classical library and modern information services. We would like to became a cultural meeting place for the town and a venue for smaller professional conferences.
